Busby's Heating & Air Conditioning is proud to announce a new partnership between Busby’s Cares and Golden Harvest Food Bank to help fight food insecurity across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). As part of the initiative, Busby's Cares will donate 25 meals for every HVAC checkup completed in 2026. Through this effort, routine heating and cooling maintenance will directly translate into meals for families, seniors, and children facing hunger in our community. “Busby’s Cares is rooted in our purpose of improving the quality of life for our team, our community, and our customers,” said Kristen Munn, President of Busby’s Heating & Air Conditioning. "By tying every HVAC checkup to 25 meals, our customers become part of something bigger – helping us bring comfort not just into homes, but onto tables across our community." March in Motion: Supporting The RECing Crew through Busby's Cares At Busby's, each month our Busby's Cares initiative is an opportunity to highlight organizations that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. In March, we were proud to partner with The RECing Crew, a local nonprofit bringing joy, connection, and opportunity to individuals with disabilities across the CSRA. Founded by families and friends of individuals with disabilities, The RECing Crew was built on a simple but powerful idea: everyone deserves access to fun, enriching recreational experiences. With over 200 participants ranging in age from 6 to 88, their programs create opportunities for people of all abilities to stay active, build friendships, and explore new interests. Their wide range of offerings includes: Art programs, ballet, jazz, and tap dance, chorus and music, MMA, boxing, Karate, jazzercise, recreational sports, baseball leagues, social clubs and group activities. One of the most impactful aspects of The RECing Crew's mission is their commitment to affordability. February marked a milestone moment for our Busby's Cares initiative, one that showcased the power of community, collaboration, and shared purpose. We had the honor of spotlighting Mad Hatter Farm, an incredible local organization dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with special needs. Mad Hatter Farm is more than just a farm… inspired by and in memory of their daughter Cassie, it's a place where people of all abilities are empowered to grow, learn, and thrive. Their work fills a vital gap in the community as the only handicap-accessible farm and animal sanctuary in the CSRA. What made February especially memorable was how quickly this campaign grew beyond what we imagined. As part of our commitment, Busby’s Cares pledged to match donations up to $2,000. But the momentum didn’t stop there. Inspired by the cause, Maxwell's Plumbing and Drain stepped forward with an incredible offer to match our match - contributing an additional $2,000 once our original match was met. With the support of our community, $4,000 was raised for Mad Hatter Farm. Thanks to the combined matching efforts, that amount was doubled, resulting in an incredible $8,000 total impact. February’s campaign was a perfect example of what we envisioned when we launched Busby's Cares. It's not just about giving; it's about creating a ripple effect of generosity that spreads throughout our community. We're incredibly thankful to everyone who contributed, shared, and supported this effort. This past January, through our Busby’s Cares initiative, we were proud to spotlight an organization making a difference in our community: Child Enrichment. For decades, Child Enrichment has served as a lifeline for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trafficking. Their mission to provide intervention, advocacy, and prevention services has helped protect children and guide them toward healing and hope. Through programs like their Child Advocacy Center and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), they have ensured that every child had a voice and access to the care, support, and resources they needed. These essential services have been provided free of charge, made possible by the generosity of donors and community partners. Through our donation matching campaign, every dollar given to Child Enrichment went twice as far. Busby’s proudly matched donations up to a total of $2,000, amplifying the generosity of everyone who participated. Child Enrichment has served thousands of children across the CSRA, helping them navigate difficult circumstances and find hope again. The support shown in January helped continue that mission by providing safe spaces, advocacy, and resources for children who needed it most. Winter is coming! Participate in the Annual Busby's Coats for Kids through October 30th, 2025

As part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative, on October 4, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented Mason and Sharon Schmidt a $2,000 check to help the Trot to Adopt 5K fundraiser. The Schmidts are one of four local families looking to bring children home through adoption. Trot to Adopt 5K is a fun run designed to support four families in the CSRA with their adoption efforts. This year marks the 13th Annual event, and will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, GA. Sharon and Michael Schmidt met in 2015 while Michael was stationed in the Army at Fort Huachuca and now live in Grovetown, GA. They’ve been married for 6 years. Mason is an Offensive Security Engineer for the Army and Sharon volunteers as a registered nurse at Hope Women’s Center. Early in their marriage they were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. They are excited about participating in Trot to Adopt which is helping them on their journey of adoption. As part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative, on September 20, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented Kenny Newborn a $1,000 check for the Military Appreciation Day Bass Tournament. Kenny is a retired, 26 year Army 1st Sergeant and avid Bass Fisherman. The Military Appreciation Day Bass Tournament will be held at Wildwood Park in Appling, GA on Saturday, October 28, 2023. There will be a ceremonial “blast off” at “safe light” and a festival from 11AM until 3PM. This event is open to the public and will take place at the main boat ramp area at Wildwood Park. Proceeds from the Bass Tournament will go to several military charities including Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), Army Emergency Relief (AER) and The Fisher House at Fort Eisenhower. Kenny wants to bring awareness and recognition to those who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. On Thursday, July 27, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air Conditioning presented Evans High School with a check for $50,000. This contribution was part of a multi-year sponsorship agreement that will help the high school's Athletic Program. Rick Busby and Busby's Heating and Air Conditioning have served for decades on the school's Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) advisory board. Rick’s two daughters graduated from Evans High School and have gone on to rewarding careers. On June 27, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented Child Enrichment Executive Director, Kari Viola-Brooke, with a $2,000 check as part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative. Child Enrichment was established in 1978 by a group of physicians, nurses, and social workers to help abused children overcome their experiences and rebuild their lives. Child Enrichment has helped over 26,500 local children who have experienced abuse, exploitation, abandonment, and neglect since opening its doors to our community's children. As part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative, on March 9, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented cancer survivor Ann Jones with a $2000 check on behalf of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). Ann has been nominated as a candidate for the LLS Visionary of The Year campaign. In September of 2020, Ann was diagnosed with Leukemia. Help from LLS's research and patient support enabled Ann to participate in a trial chemo drug study resulting in her entering into remission quickly. Without the help from LLS, this would not have been possible. Ann wants to help bring awareness of the effects cancer has on the mental health of patients, caregivers, spouses, survivors, family members, and friends. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta with a $1000 check as part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative. This contribution was made to assist the Y with its annual fundraising campaign. The Y operates more than 50 locations in eight counties across Georgia and South Carolina, including 9 health and wellness facilities, a Child Development Academy, Camp Lakeside (a 100-acre camp in Lincolnton), 27 Primetime After School sites and 19 summer camp locations throughout the CSRA. No one is turned away from the Y for their inability to pay. Each year, the Y gives out $2 million in scholarships to those in need. These scholarships allow more kids to attend camp, provide the opportunity for more families to become members, and gives more youth a safe place to go before and after regular school hours. On Friday, January 20, 2023, Rick Busby with Busby’s Heating and Air presented Blythe Elementary School with a $1000 check as part of The Busby’s Cares Community Contribution initiative. This contribution was made to assist the school in its efforts to raise funds for student field trips to the Georgia Aquarium. Different grade levels from Blythe Elementary will visit the aquarium on March 3rd, 10th and 17th of this year. The school applied for and received three (3) Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA) Grants from The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta which will cover admissions tickets for all students and employees. Due to county bus driver shortages and the trips extending beyond regular school hours, Blythe Elementary was required to hire charter buses costing $14,400. Donations have also been received from other local businesses and families but the school needs approximately $2900 to finish covering the cost of transportation. On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented Cancer Support Services Board President, Hap Harris, with a $2000 contribution as part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative. Cancer Support Services (CSS) is a local, non-profit agency that provides men, women, and children being treated for cancer support for their financial and emotional needs, including lodging and transportation services, to help facilitate their treatment and healing. In addition, CSS helps with prescription costs, medical supplies, past due utilities and rent, and monthly outreach. On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Rick Busby with Busby's Heating and Air presented Don Branum and Ron Skenes of Christ Community Health of Augusta with a $3,000 contribution as part of The Busby's Cares Community Contribution initiative. Christ Community Health of Augusta provides affordable, quality health services including adult and pediatric primary and behavioral health care, dental care for adults and children, chronic disease management and physical therapy. Services are available even if patients don’t have insurance.
